Beware of the consequences of having too simple a soul symbol.

There are many motivations for playing an immortal character that gets spoonfed plot, and i agree that you should try to find your own. Things are never as simple as they appear.
There are some fantastic archetypes out there, but most of them are not the same as they started. As with any character, the eidolon develops over the first few times it is played, and the best way to find a niche is to have a squinny.
We have the ability to change how we manifest, so don't worry to much about the kit thing. If you decide after playing that you'd rather have wings and horns, grow them! Personality is rather different, but still flexible.
And have fun. There is bugger all point in playing a character that you don't enjoy.
Something you might not have considered is - think how complicated you want to make your soul symbol.
I know it suggested choosing a Chinese character but I wasnt aware you can create your own souls symbol. If that is the case then i have one in mind already.
