Alas, as a Fallen we are conflict incarnate, whatever our *own* intentions are...
Hence we really shouldn't go to a player event unless we're quite specifically invited, otherwise it could cause awkwardness (particularly if theres a *semi-open* invite which could result in some of our bitter enemies turning up).

well. the person i will be enlightening this dt will be there. so i have a good reason to be there IC. And as some of you fallen know. Charlemagne doesn't hold the fallen eidolon's choice to fall agaist them. he's too open minded

Be careful of open mindedness... too much you might fall into it.
It's often more the fact you cannot be sure who will be attending (due to the intricate web of politics in maelstrom it's relatively common for bitter enemies to both count a certain group as close allies).
It could also be something of a problem for the Smitey, cuttey angel of vengeance types.
"Excuse me.... mind if I squeeze get one of those cheese and pineapple sticks?... They like totally make millennia of divine servitude worth it... Wait you're Lizzy from McKhana right? I recognize you! The Gods told me to cut you into little pieces!... However I can't at this moment because... umm.... I'm holding a sick with cheese and pineapple on it?..."

without going FOIP on this. for us loyals its could be a time to let our hair down and get to know the mortals better. or in the case of the newly bold me. a chance to play my eidolon without having to worry about "missions" which is how i designed my character. the concept is hard to do after i've gone out to get mortals to prey more.
I could of gone fallen but still loyal to his beliefs of the gods, but that would not of worked.

*Shurg* from a purely OC prospective having lots of different characters with different beliefs makes the game more interesting (if perhaps the overall eidolon collective *less effective* than a homogeneous unified front)
Having liberal loyals alongside stompy, smitey, fanatical old school types makes the game fun, neither methods of play are more valid or "badwrongfun", they'res plenty of reasons to play cool, smart and fun characters from both sides of the spectrum.
(Just as theres the "Rampaging monsterous deamon to manipulative devil to redemption seeking fallen angel" spectrum when playing a fallen.)
IC opinions on the matter may be rather different.
Varas always considered the "liberal loyals" to be *demons-in-waiting* who needed to keep an eye on, whilst Khaniel likes talking to them whilst baiting the others as closed minded idiots.

lol. and i think it was you that said i dressed in "fallen" colours. not my fault a found a lot of cheap red satin brockade style materal
|
Illithidbix

Well, if we don't distinguish ourselves by colour we'll confuse the poor mortals, and we can't be having that can we....
(Rushes off to buy a white dress, a blonde wig and fake breasts...)

your right. we cant be doing that now can we Marilyn. im actually looking into having a bit of a costume change. i'll still be in the red robe but im having the front done as a "mandarin"? style button up front. So im not trying to look more evil.

Still, there are certain character types that really don't suit a player event unless we're specifically invited.
I did miss killing a murderer once because I had a kebab in my hand (true! ask the Rukh!) but even if I carry cheese-and-pineapple on a stick all weekend, some of my enemies are bound to want to stab me in the back, or poison my cheese-and-pineapple.
I do want to attend more player events, and can be more talky and less two-dimensional (in the right company, and with the right sort of people ) but obviously don't want to end up at the same player event as, say, Rheinfelden, unless one of us has a reeeeally good IC disguise...

thats the beauty of eidolons. we dont have to appear the same every time
|
Illithidbix

Alas being in disguise does still not really meet the criteria for player events as there is always the potential for the cover to be blown.

Yeah, somehow now matter how good my disguise (and some of them have been reeeeally good) I always seem to get spotted as soon as I open my mouth. I can't help it, voice of an Angel, etc. etc.
Player events are strictly non-combat. I provoke combat almost everywhere I go. At regular events, this is a blessing, but some events are just not avenging angel friendly... So without a very definite invitation, I wouldn't dream of attending a player event as my Eidolon. Even on days when I'm not out to kill anyone, far too many people are out to kill me
